Methinks the Chemist would not classify "sleeping in the freezer" as a getaway pops.

ROFL  Me thinks you is right.

We had our first official Lubbock Meet&Greet at lunch today. Four cars, 6 folks, good food at Carino's. Dannyboy and wife, pauliewog, Rcola, and the HRB and me. We discussed this (possible) meet. The father of dannyboy's wife is a realestate agent in Ruidoso and might be abloe to get us a good deal on some cabin rentals in Ruidoso. Rcola's family also has a house in that area. Bottom line: prospects for this are still good, but we may shift from Cloudcroft to Ruidoso. Pauliewog and Rcola have already found some good roads to drive.  Hurray

I'll post more when I know more.

Pops, Gila National Forest has some elevation, so I'm guessing the fun parts of the run would be good top down even in August.

What?  Hmmm

Cloudcroft to Cimmaron Canyon around 350 miles

Cloudcroft to Silver City about 200 miles to get the Gila Monster

Closer to you, but we'll be hanging in Cloudcroft.
