my 2 cents ... keep to the traditional Thu-Sun time frame ... possibly throw in an activity or 2 on Wednesday for people that can afford the time off ... but the main thrust should be for the traditional time frame ...
I agree. And part of the reason I jumped in when I saw the debate start going back and forth. A lot of motorcycle/Car stuff using the same format: Bloomington Gold: June 23-26 (Wed-Sat) Mopar Nationals: August 13-15 (Friday-Sunday) Gold Wing Wing Ding: June 30-July 3 (Wed-Sat) ABATE of Iowa Freedom Festival: July 1-July 3 (Thu - Sat) Triumph Nationals - Feb 12-14th (Fri-Sunday) You all have picked the dates for a reason. And maybe you'll have to werk around hotel dates, or banquet dates or what have you. But you've put the dates out there, so my thinking is leave it. Also, and I'll say this here and not on the BB because I'll get my chewed over there and then some. It's great to ask for suggestions, but you kinda open yourself up for ton of ideas and it might begin to become overwhelming. There's no way you will please everyone. Take a look at what has worked and what didn't werk at previous events/nationals and use that information to help! Like I said, the ideas you've come up with give people a nice variety to choose from and that's what people need. I'm sure you're working off a framework that you have in mind. Run with it! And set the shedule events based on what works best for your area and your timeframe you have to werk with. It will all fall into place! And seriously, if you need any help, we're more than happy to help you out! Best of luck!!!

The big reason to go ahead and open up debate in the public forum regarding the date was to avoid being accused of setting up a meet that meets my needs without appropriate input from the group. It is indeed a delicate balance, weighing public opinion and the need for transparency vs. getting 'r done, but so far so good. And believe me, I will be reaching out to you and Druid and others with experience in the big meets as things roll along. I've got a pretty good team that's pretty excited about the process right from the start, and so far I've been busy just tracking all their werk and input.

It is indeed a delicate balance, weighing public opinion and the need for transparency vs. getting 'r done, but so far so good. I've got a pretty good team that's pretty excited about the process right from the start, and so far I've been busy just tracking all their werk and input. Seriously...you shouldn't have much of a problem with accusations right now. People are excited just to have another national meet next year that is all about Kappas! And you're gonna have to plan based on what's available to you and what you know. Unless there is something that screams Hey, this has been a problem at past events, we need to fix it, I seriously wouldn't worry about it. Go with what you know and set up based on that! We kinda did the run around with the whole safety thing after the events of last August. And I think JM put an event planning thread out there too. Asked for opinions and basically found that every group has their own school of thought. Some wanted runs one way, some wanted dinners another way. The thing that works best is learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. Have your planning group go to as many different meets in as many different areas as possible over the next few months. Observe and take lots of notes. What did people really like? What didn't go over well? There is always something. And it's usually something you never would have expected! Most of all, make it really fun! If you're having fun and enjoying yourself, then everyone else has fun and they want to come and enjoy themselves! That really works well!

Me and Howee (SlyGuy) are going to Austin on the 22nd-23rd-24 to do mapping and Stuck we would love for you to join us since these are your driving grounds.......
The runs will be shorter but there will be a couple of longer ones as well..... Each run will include a lunch of some sort or an activity in the middle.... There will also be a self guided packet for those that prefer a slow easy pace..... We will know more after our trip out there in a couple of weeks... If anyone wants to join us you are more than welcome...... The planning committee will be doing tours of the Hotels and holding a meeting sometime but other than that anyone is welcome to join the drives..... We will be staying at the:
Red Roof Inn Austin- University of Texas 4701 South I-35 Austin, TX 78744 (512) 448-0091
Rooms run around 50 a night..... This is just for the planning/mapping trip

And what, pray tell, makes you think we won't dogpile you, too? Cause the dogpile over here, has a bit sweeter smelling than the dogpile over there! If that makes sense.

I don't know if you remember but I posted on SR that I wanted to meet "R" in Canton. Of course, as you know, it was you that I wanted to meet. Unfortunately, I met the other "R." THE ROCK!
